Mcerts MCERTS Accreditation

Envirocare is a well established UK consultancy, with MCERTS accreditation for manual stack emissions monitoring for both our methods and personnel. This accreditation is required for IPPC and LAPPC applications and ongoing compliance.

MCERTS is highly respected in the world of monitoring. This is mainly due to the fact that the scheme offers accreditation for fully trained operatives and the use of accredited equipment, ensuring that the highest standards of monitoring are observed.

Under the IPPC regulations, companies with A1, and more recently A2, permits are mandatorily required to have compliance sampling undertaken by MCERTS accredited organisations using accredited methods and personnel. These accredited methods are based on technical guidance notes.

Following a successful re-audit August 2008, Envirocare’s ever expanding scope now includes SO2  to BS 6069.

What are the advantages of having MCERTS accredited monitoring?

One of the reasons the Environment Agency carries out Operator Monitoring Assessment (OMA) audits is to encourage organisations to have high quality monitoring in place. To perform to high quality standards and have accredited air monitoring in place, maximum scores for many of the 'fundamental' elements of OMA will automatically apply. A high overall OMA score should result in reduced frequency of external audits thus saving time and money.

BS EN 14181 Pilot Scheme

BS EN 14181 is the standard for validating Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
As of April 2010, monitoring to be undertaken for organisations regulated under the ‘Waste Incineration Directive’ and ‘Large Combustion Plant Directive’ will have to be accredited to the MCERTS performance standards.
In response to this, UKAS have developed the BS EN 14181 pilot scheme, to which testing laboratories can apply to and, once completed successfully, achieve accreditation to BS EN 14181 as of April 2010.
The deadline to apply to be on the Pilot Scheme has now passed.

Envirocare is amongst 14 other organisations in the UK to apply for the Pilot Scheme.
