Careless behaviour doesn't go unnoticed!
4/7/2009
According to the SHP
A new survey suggests that 97 per cent of UK employers refuse to take personal responsibility for work-related accidents.
The National Accident Helpline (NAH) surveyed 109 people who had suffered a workplace injury to see what they thought about their employer’s attitude to health and safety.
The survey also revealed that 62 per cent of employees felt that health and safety had become less of a priority at their workplace since the recession.
NAH legal director, John Campbell, believes the survey highlights that employers don’t take responsibility for the welfare of their staff. He said: “Health and safety in the workplace must be more than just a box-ticking exercise. If an employer is not truly invested in ensuring his employees are safe and well, then not only will he have difficulties retaining staff but he will leave himself open to financial redress should an accident occur.
